Toward Leadership in Comprehensive Automobile Manufacturing
Honda Automobile (Thailand) manufacturing plant in Ayudhya province is one of the world's most advanced facilities. It currently rolls out five principal models for sale in Thailand and abroad -- namely, Jazz, City, Civic, Accord and CR-V. Continual investment expansion, product R&D, and production technology development under the auspice of Honda Engineering ASEAN, which develops and manufacture machine tools and molds, not to mention the founding of Honda's own parts molding plant , new plastic molding plant and cylinder sleeve production facility, and expansion of engine production in Thailand, have propelled Honda's production facilities here to the enviable status of the world's most comprehensive car production base.
And thanks to the introduction of an intelligent production system and application of robotic arms to the various production stages, Honda manufacturing plant has become highly flexible. With an annual maximum capacity of 120,000 units, it currently can roll out several models from the very same assembly line, thus reducing production time and costs, while sharpening its competitive edge. |
Boosting the potential of Thailand 's car production base
Honda continually improves its production capacity in Thailand . In addition to support and partnership with Thai parts suppliers to locally develop car parts that meet the Global Honda standards, Honda has transferred advanced production technology from Japan to Thailand , with an aim to increase the technical skills of our Thai associates. Accordingly, Honda R&D Thailand was founded to promote competent development of new products through systematic research and development of cars that meet the ever-rising demands and expectation in each region.
Furthermore, Honda Engineering ASEAN has been established to specifically manufacture tools and molds for Honda manufacturing plants in the country and abroad, as well as for export. The venture helps to reduce production costs and increase local parts consumption.

World Standard Quality
Honda's manufacturing facilities in Thailand are widely acclaimed at home and abroad in respect to production quality, having received an ISO 9002 certificate in recognition of quality management excellence in 1998, an ISO 14001 certificate for excellence in environment management in 1999, and an ISO 9001:2000 standard in 2001. Widely commended for its world-leading quality standard
Honda cars manufactured by Thai workers in Thailand have been warmly received in more than 30 countries abroad. We began exporting City parts in 1996, and the City model itself to Singapore and Brunei in the following year.
Honda subsequently expanded its export market to include 25 countries in the Middle East , Africa and Asian countries. And in 2002, Honda City was exported under the brand Fit Aria to Japan , a country that is exceptionally meticulous in regard to manufacturing quality.
In 1998, Honda Automobile ( Thailand ) exported its Accord to Australia and New Zealand , and expanded the market to cover South Africa and nine ASEAN countries. Later, in 1999, Honda began exporting Honda Civic to New Zealand and then Australia .
The success regarding export of CBU products and parts clearly indicates
Honda's manufacturing capacity as well as production flexibility in meeting the demands of dissimilar markets in different regions. In addition, it reflects our success in fulfilling the Made by Global Honda policy.
